Obituary for Vera Trona (Soroka)
Vera (Soroka) Trona, age 92, formerly of Donora, passed away at The Residence at Hilltop, Carroll Township on Thursday, October 27, 2022. She was born August 31, 1930 in Belle Vernon, the daughter of the late Theodore and Irene (Pawlack) Soroka.
A devout Catholic, Vera was a longtime member of the Saint Andrew the Apostle Church Donora Campus where she was an active volunteer with ravioli/spaghetti dinners, fish dinners, festivals and the Christian Mothers Womens Guild. She worked for many years at Donora Sportswear. Vera enjoyed baking and cooking and being a loving mother, grandmother, aunt and friend to many. She and her husband Tony enjoyed social activities like bowling and bocce with their friends over the years.
Surviving to cherish her memory are her children; son Anthony J Trona and wife Carol of Canonsburg, PA and daughter Marlene Trona Marsico and husband Vince of Uniontown, PA; grandchildren Philip D. Trona and wife Vicky of Pittsburgh, PA and Mario A. Trona of Cleveland, OH; and her sister, Martha Zeli of Belle Vernon, PA and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Vera was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years Anthony Trona. Also preceding her in death are three brothers and six sisters.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Anthony L. Massafra Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Inc., 40 Second Street Extension, Donora, PA 15033 (724) 379-6900 where friends will be received on Tuesday, November 1, 2022 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM. Prayers will be recited in the funeral home on Wednesday, November 2, 2022 at 9:30 AM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St Andrew the Apostle Church Donora Campus at 10:00 AM.
Entombment will follow in Mon Valley Memorial Park.
