Obituary for Josephine Katherine LaMendola (Young)
Josephine Katherine "Tootsie" LaMendola, age 87, a lifelong resident of Donora, PA, died Saturday, April 16, 2022, at Residence at Hilltop in Monongahela, PA.
She was born March 25, 1935 in Monessen the daughter of the late Nicholas Young and the late Mary Kruczek Young.
She was a member of the St. Andrew the Apostle Parish.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Robert "Lum" LaMendola; a sister Theresa Brioli; and a brother, Nick Young.
Surviving to cherish her memory are her brother, Robert Young; a sister, Mary "Bunny" Byrne; and numerous nieces and nephews. She had no children of her own, but everyone who knew her knew how much she adored children. She became that special aunt to all the little ones in the family. Her smile was generous and infectious, and later in life, even after a serious stroke, that smile welcomed all. We'll miss that smile and big heart.
