Obituary for Philip Kaluponov
Philip Kaluponov, 66, of Craven Hill Charleroi, died Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at UPMC Presbyterian. He was born October 24, 1954 in Pittsburgh, son of the late Andrew and Priscilla Kaluponov.
In 1972 he graduated from Monongahela High School and went on to Shippensburg University where he graduated in 1976. He then moved to the state of California and worked for the US Postal Service. He developed many relationships and became a special person to many of the residents he served as a mail-carrier for over 30 years. After recently retiring, he moved back East to take care of his Mother, Priscilla, during the last years of her life.
Phil was a kind and gentle soul and a thoughtful, generous friend. He loved music, animals, nature and enjoyed documenting all his travels with his classic 35mm camera. Cheering on Penn State and Pittsburgh sports teams was a favorite past time. But most of all he loved being with family, which was very important to him. He was truly a great son, brother, uncle and cousin who will be greatly missed by all of us.
Mr. Kaluponov is preceded in death by his parents Andrew and Priscilla. He is survived by his sister Daria (Tony) Tatasciore; their two children Natalya and Michael; along with many loving cousins and extended family.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the ANTHONY L. MASSAFRA FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICE INC., 40 Second Street Extension, Carroll Township/Donora, PA 15033, (724) 379-6900, where there will be a public viewing Sunday, February 14, from 5:30 PM - 7:30 PM . A private funeral service will be held on Monday at 11:00 AM for immediate family.
Mr Kaluponov’s family would like to express their understanding for those unable to pay their respects due to pandemic concerns.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Philip’s memory to St. Nicholas Orthodox Church, 1 St. Nicholas Drive, Donora PA 15033.
To be socially responsible during this time of the Covid-19 pandemic, we will continue to limit the attendance to 25 people inside the funeral home at any given time. Guests are asked to obey social distancing guidelines and personal protection guidelines which include masks within the funeral home. Guests may be asked to limit their visitation times so that all visitors will have the opportunity to pay their respects.
