Obituary for Michael Brody Jr.

"Mr. Michael Brody Jr. passed away suddenly and peacefully at the age of 91 on February 5th, 2021. Born on May 30th, 1929 in Donora, he was the only son of Michael and Anna Mikita Brody and the only brother of Anna Lokatos, Mary Davies, Elizabeth Hela, Helen Fincik, Irene Pollack and Margaret Brody (all deceased). His wife, Elsie McManus Brody also died before him in 1983.

A number of people will remember him with love including his beloved companion of more than thirty years, Carolyn Uber and her children, Linda Dombrowski (Mike) and John Uber (Cynthia). Also surviving Mr. Brody is one son, Dr. Michael C. Brody (Sue) and one daughter, Rev. Nancy K. Brody (Steve Blades). Grandchildren include Benjamin Brody, Jordan Brody, Simon Uhlig and Bess Uhlig as well as those he gained through Carolyn: Bryan, Eric and Cheryl Dombrowski and Zoe Uber. Numerous nieces, nephews and their families were also special to him.

Mike was a Senior Chief Petty Officer, USN Ret. from Dahlgren Naval Surface Weapons Laboratory where he spent many afternoons catching Rockfish from the Potomac. He was distinguished by the Navy for his work converting payroll data of the Pacific Fleet into programable computer language. He seized every opportunity to master any training offered, including IBM school. Personally, he was an excellent fisherman (filleting with no trace of skin or bone), landscaper and Omaha Hi-Lo player.

He loved good food and coffee, was good at dancing, taking care of his family and explaining how things work. Faith and family shaped him most of all."
