Noreen Elizabeth (White) Fazzini, 93 of Donora, peacefully passed away on to eternal glory with the Lord on Friday, October 2, 2020 at Monongahela Valley Hospital.

Noreen graduated from Donora High School in 1945 and from California State University in 1949 with a bachelor's degree in elementary education. She married her high school sweetheart, Bernard Fazzini, and embraced both teaching and kindergarten and her students before having her own much-loved children.

Noreen was a longtime parishioner of St. Andrew the Apostle Parish (formerly St. Philip Neri Parish) in Donora. She was passionately committed to the Roman Catholic faith and actively involved with the Catholic Woman's College Club since its inception 70 years ago.

I never had the pleasure of meeting Noreen, but I would like her friends and family to know what a truly wonderful woman she was. My son, Jonathan Starkey, is a retired Master Sargent, United States Air Force, he retired in 2018 after serving 20 years, he served 4 tours in Iraq and 1 tour in Afghanistan, these were each year long tours in war torn third world countries with conditions and dangers we cannot even imagine. When Noreen was made aware of Jonathan’s service from her Goddaughter Beth Coatsworth and learned about Beth’s and my concern for Jonathan’s safety, she took on the task of each day walking to church and praying for his health and safety and asking God for his protection, she did this for more than 18 years! Beth and I are both convinced that her prayers brought Jonathan safely home from each tour. I do not know very many of the circumstance of his duties or the dangers he faced: during his service in Iraq his vehicle hit an IED and he and his 2 fellow servicemen were not seriously hurt, they walked away with non-life threatening injuries and for his service in Afghanistan he was awarded a Bronze Star. I will never forget her, Jonathan will never forget her and how lucky Beth was to have her as her Godmother! Noreen - thank you! What a kind, caring and wonderful person – she was an angel on earth and now she is a heavenly angel! Noreen, rest in peace!

Please accept my condolences on the passing of Noreen. I moved away to Maryland in 1980 and brought my parents Fred and Jay Biasini to MD in 2004 when they were no longer able to stay in their home. When my father passed away in 2016 and my mom in 2018, Noreen came to the Committal Service for both of my parents at Sacred Heart Cemetery when we brought my parents back to their final resting place. She gave me money for a Mass for both of them which was a beautiful gesture. She even came to the cemetery with Joe Rodriguez for my dad. My dad worked at the Ford Motor Co in Donora for Norene's dad, Joe White. It felt like Norene was a member of our family. May she Rest in Peace.

I was only 5 (1951). YOU were my HERO, my MODEL, my INSPIRATION. I looked up to you as my MOTHER AWAY FROM HOME, though mine was just across the street. Your COMPASSION, your LOVE, your GENTLE DEMEANORS sparked me to become a teacher. I wanted to be just like you.

When the Net came into vogue, you became “My Secret Question.” How I wanted to find you and tell you how you motivated my life at such an impressionable age.

Then at my sis’s funeral in 2014 I found you, or should I say YOU found me. We kept in touch ever since.

Thank you, Mrs. Fazzini, for your continued encouragement, your friendship, and your motherliness. I will always keep our last words close to my heart: “I love you.”

Your Kdg student, Susan

Jeff & Fazzini Family,
Please accept our deepest sympathy on the loss of your mom, Noreen. "A wonderful person, no words can fully describe." I loved sitting with her at morning mass when I was able to go, while on vacation. Also I was glad I got to visit with her a few times prior to her passing. She will truly be missed. You have our heartfelt condolences and best wishes to all of you as you proceed thru this very difficult time. Love Rick, Cinci and Beau Stoioff
