Gloria Jean Freeman-Bright “Glo”, 68, of Carrol Township, passed in her sleep Friday, September 4th, 2020 after a hard-fought and brave 30 month battle with lung and brain cancer.
Born Sunday, September 23, 1951, in North Charleroi she was the daughter of the late Katherine Arlene “Bubs, Bubbie” Burkett Gaul and Jack Alvin Gaul.
Gloria was a graduate of Monessen High School and Douglas School of Business. Through the Years she worked at Brookville Sewing Factory, Donora Sportswear, Tollgrade Communications as a QA Technician, Dr. DeRienzo’s as a medical assistant, and Dicks Sportswear as a receiving associate. She was a mother, friend, and life coach to many, who also loved her back just as much as the unconditional love she showed. Her smile and quick wit often lit up a room and caught people off guard but you couldn’t help but be drawn to her. She never hesitated to tell you like it was and offer help if needed.
She was preceded in death by 2 husbands. Rodney E. Freeman Sr. and Roscoe Bright. An Uncle Daniel W. Burkett, a brother James Allen Gaul, a daughter Jeanne "Dino" R. Davis, a grandson Clifton Gore III, a granddaughter Elizabeth “Izzy” Paige Bright and a nephew James A. Gaul II.
Survivors include 2 Brothers-In-Law Leroy Bright (Sharon), Mark Freeman (Sherion), 1 Sister-In-Law Janet Carter (Floyd), 4 sons Rodney E. Freeman Jr (Gail), Jason L Bright, Roscoe C. Bright (Amanda), Michael C. Bright (Christina), 2 Daughters Roconia E. Price (Mark), Willie A. Gore (Clifton), Various aunts and uncles including Charles Ross Burkett (Sheryl) and Nina Raye Burd Burkett and many nieces, nephews, cousins, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Her loved ones and frequent caretakers (who can never be properly repaid or thanked) were Lisa Bright Floyd, Kimmi Charlton, Sabrina Coughenour, Amara Chaney, and Sonja B. Behanna. She was also under the care of the AHN Hospice team which were all so great and attentive to her. Her regulars were Amanda Billy, Terri Doman, Angela Woznick and Katie Gardner.
Arrangements are being handled by Anthony L. Massafra Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Inc., 40 Second Street Extension, Donora, PA 15033 (724) 379-6900 where the family will receive guests from 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm Friday, Sept. 11, 2020. Services will also be at Massafra Funeral Home Sat. Sept. 12th at 11 am with Pastor Frank Sloan Jr. officiating, from Free Indeed Ministries 401 2nd St, Monongahela, PA 15063. Interment will follow in Belle Vernon Cemetery.
In order to be compliant with the new "norm" of Covid-19 restrictions, attendance will be limited to 25 people at any given time inside the funeral home. Guests are asked to obey social distancing guidelines and personal protection guidelines which include masks within the funeral home. Guests may be asked to limit their visitation times so that all visitors will have the opportunity to pay their respects. Thank you. Dear Freeman-Bright family,
Our deepest condolences as you are grappling with your loss. Please know that we earnestly think and pray for those whom have lost loved ones. This loss is not natural, nor is it part of God's original purpose. Glo is now in the safest possible place and waits to say the words at 1 Corinthians 15:55 "Death, where is your victory? Death, where is your sting?" Trust that your pain is not overlooked and that we all look forward to a time when death will be no more. (Revelation 21:4) The scriptures have been provided to give comfort and show us what Gods loving plan is for those who enter rest. Take peace. For comfort from the Bible, please visit

So sorry to see Gloria had passed away. I used to work with her a very long time ago when she worked down Anna Marie's. I was still in high school but she was so much fun! She made work bearable when it would get crazy. She always had a smile on her face and could make you laugh in a heartbeat! Such a sweet soul! Fly high with the angels, Gloria!
