Obituary for Charles E. "Pete" Kozar Sr.

Charles E. "Pete" Kozar Sr., 84 of Donora, passed away on Wednesday, July 22, 2020 at Monongahela Valley Hospital.

He was born on February 4, 1936 in Donora, a son of the late Andrew and Margaret Turtzer Kozar.

He was Catholic by faith and a member of St. Andrew the Apostle Parish. Mr. Kozar was a longtime member of the Monongahela Rotary where he served as past president and treasurer. He was a life member of the former Donora Elks and a member of the Polish Falcons of America, Donora Nest 247. He was a member of the former Our Lady of the Valley Holy Name Society and the St. Dominic and Our Lady of the Valley choirs and was a former member of the Pastoral Council. Mr. Kozar started the Ringgold Interact Club in 1984.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Joann Kay (Shick) Kozar on November 29, 1998; and one brother, Andrew Kozar.

Left to cherish his memory are one son, Charles E. (Marlo) Kozar, Jr. of Monessen; one daughter, Jean Ann Blair (Danny) Painter of Donora; three grandchildren, Matthew (Cali) Blair, Nicholas Blair, and Dale Kozar; and one great-granddaughter, Audrey Jane Blair; one brother, Deacon Jerome (Patricia) Kozar of Texas; one sister in-law, Janet Robson; and one brother in-law, Thomas Shick.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the ANTHONY L. MASSAFRA FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICE INC., 40 Second Street Extension, Carroll Township/Donora, PA 15033, (724) 379-6900, where the family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, July 24, 2020. Prayers will be recited in the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 25, 2020, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at the Donora Campus of St. Andrew the Apostle Parish.

Interment will follow at St. Dominic Cemetery, Donora, PA.

In order to be compliant with the new "norm" of Covid-19 restrictions, attendance will be limited to 25 people at any given time inside the funeral home. Guests are asked to obey social distancing guidelines and personal protection guidelines which include masks within the funeral home. Guests may be asked to limit their visitation times so that all visitors will have the opportunity to pay their respects. Thank you.
