Obituary for James V. Brizzi

James V. Brizzi, 96 of Carroll Township, passed away on Wednesday, July 15, 2020 at his home.

He was born in Webster, PA on October 3, 1923, a son of the late Agenore and Ida Ciavini Brizzi.

Mr. Brizzi was Catholic by faith and a member of St. Andrew the Apostle Parish.

A World War II Veteran, Mr. Brizzi served with the United States Army as a Technical Sergeant. During his service in the Battle of the Bulge, he was wounded and returned to action for two more campaigns in Rhineland and Central Europe. Mr. Brizzi received several decorations and citations including a Purple Heart Medal, Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal, three Bronze Stars, and the World War II Victory Medal, for his honorable service.

A 1941 graduate of Rostraver High School, Mr. Brizzi worked in the research laboratory for U.S. Steel and retired after 42 years of service. He was an avid gardener and enjoyed supplying his friends and neighbors with produce.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Marie A. (Luzzi) Brizzi on August 9, 2006; four brothers, Bruno, Albino, Jerry, and Hugo Brizzi; and four sisters, Lina Rivas, Cecelia Bastianini, Mary Delia, and Della Godfrey. Mr. Brizzi was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Left to cherish his memory are two daughters, Norma Brizzi of Florida, and Marilyn Brizzi of Donora; one son, Ron (Suzanne) Brizzi of Georgia; three granddaughters, Andrea, Rachel, and Jessica; one great-granddaughter, Kayli; and several nieces and nephews.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the ANTHONY L. MASSAFRA FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICE INC., 40 Second Street Extension, Carroll Township/Donora, PA 15033, (724) 379-6900; where the family will receive friends from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Thursday, July 23, 2020. A blessing service will be held in the funeral home at 1 p.m. on Thursday.

Interment and Military Honors accorded by the Mon Valley Honor Guard and Firing Squad, will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Monongahela.

In order to be compliant with the new "norm" of Covid-19 restrictions, attendance will be limited to 25 people at any given time inside the funeral home. Guests are asked to obey social distancing guidelines and personal protection guidelines which include masks within the funeral home. Guests may be asked to limit their visitation times so that all visitors will have the opportunity to pay their respects. Thank you.
