Obituary for John J Sawa Jr.
John Sawa Jr., age 77, of Carroll Township, PA, died Thursday, February 6, 2020, at his home. He was born in New Eagle, PA on August 26, 1942 the son of the late John J. Sawa and the late Caroline Kapty Sawa.
He was a member of the St. Andrew the Apostle Parish Donora Campus.
John started his teaching career in 1964, became an administrator / Principal in 1996 until he retired in 2005.
He was an avid Titanic enthusiast and gave many talks and demonstrations to his students and also several public talks on this subject.
He was active at the former St Mary's and St Dominic churches and was on the Parish council for many years. He was a member of CYS and on the board of directors.
In addition to his parents John was preceded in death by a son, John Sawa on February 6, 2013; a sister, Patricia Greenleaf; and a brother, Eugene Sawa.
Surviving to cherish his memory, are his wife, Claudia Rodjom Sawa; a daughter, Amy Wooley and her fiancee Richard Schran; seven grandchildren, Brittany Wooley, Zachery Wooley, Sarah Wooley, James Schran, Nicholas Schran, Shelby Schran and Emily Schran; a great grandaughter, Adelynn Schran.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Anthony L. Massafra Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Inc., 40 Second Street Extension, Donora, PA 15033 (724) 379-6900 where a Remembrance Gathering will be held from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM, Friday, February 14, 2020. A Funeral Service will follow in the funeral home at 6:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers, donations will be accepted to help with funeral arrangements.
