Obituary for Mary Muia

Mary C. Muia, 95 of Donora, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 12, 2018 at Woodhaven Care Center, Monroeville.

She was born on December 27, 1922 in Donora to the late Bruno and Rose Prestia Muia. She graduated from Donora Senior High School in 1940 and was a lifelong resident of Donora.

She owned and operated Muia’s Green Grill in Donora, which was a family run business for over 80 years. Before dedicating herself to the family business, she worked as a bookkeeper for a locally run business. Mary enjoyed cooking, having a large family, Thanksgivings, Christmases, playing bingo, and the occasional casino trip. In her younger years she traveled to Europe and Israel, several cruise excursions and numerous places in the United States.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a four sisters, Virginia Stefko, Evelyn Skorvan, Elizabeth Hall and Yolanda Roberts; three brothers, Joseph, Edward and Eugene Muia. Mary is survived by one sister, Clementine Amati of Murrysville; a brother in-law Arthur Roberts of Brentwood; a sister in-law, Mary Belle Muia of Carroll Township, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the ANTHONY L. MASSAFRA FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICE, INC., 40 Second St. Ext., Carroll Township/Donora, (724)-379-6900. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, September 17, 2018 at 10 a.m. in Our Lady of the Valley Parish in Donora, with Rev. Fr. Pierre Falkenhan as celebrant.

Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Monongahela.
