Joseph  Balogh
Joseph Balogh, 92, of Carroll Township, passed away on Friday, July 13, 2018 in Dunlevy Gardens.
A son of the late James Emery and Mary Nagy Balogh, he was born in Donora on October 28, 1925.
Joe worked for US Steel doing various jobs throughout his career. His favorite of all his positions was in the Nail Mill in Donora. He worked in Ambridge and retired from the Duquesne plant working in the Chem Lab. He was a US Army Veteran serving his country during the Battle of the Bulge in the 75th Division Company A, where he received a Purple Heart. Joe was always so proud to have served his country. He was a member of the Donora American Legion Post 212. He was an original member of the Calvary United Presbyterian Church in Donora, served as treasurer deacon and Elder, choir member, the chime choir, was the Sunday School Superintendent and was a Sunday School teacher. He enjoyed boating, waterskiing, was an amazing storyteller and loved to sing Hungarian songs, especially to his beloved wife Olga.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a daughter Donna Jean Reda and a sister Veronica Otrosina.
He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Olga Holowich; a daughter and son-in-law, Nancy and Sam Lonich of Charleroi; a son and daughter-in-law Joseph E. and Susan Balogh of Donora; a son-in-law, Dominic Reda of Rostraver Township; grandchildren Melanie, Chris, Elise, and Ian; two great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Arrangements are being handled by Anthony L. Massafra Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Inc., 40 Second Street Extension, Donora, PA 15033 (724)-379-6900, where the family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, on Sunday, July 15, 2018.
A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Monday, July 16, 2018 at 10:00 AM, with Rev. James Bailey officiating. Interment will follow in Mon Valley Memorial Park, Donora, PA.
