Helen G. Kearns, age 88, of Donora, PA, died Saturday, June 16, 2018, at Premier Washington Rehabilitation and Nursing Center in Washington, PA.
Born in Fellsburg, PA on May 11, 1930, Mrs. Kearns was a daughter of the late Beecher and Janet Aitken Gibbs.
She was a member of the Our Lady of the Valley Church. Mrs. Kearns enjoyed spending time with her family and loved traveling, as well as going on family vacations to the beach. Her husband always said "if her coat tail was flying, she was happy." Helen was an avid reader she especially like to read novels, she also enjoyed shopping, especially at Macy's and JC Penny's.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Casmer Kearns of 47 years on January 28, 2003; and three sisters, Dolores Easton, Emily Armour, and Audrey Snyder.
She is survived by her daughter: Debra (Bryan) Adams of Donora; two sons: David (Darla) Kearns of Carroll Township and James Kearns (Charles Christner) of Smithton, grandchildren: Jamie (Michael) McConaha, David Kearns II (Heather), Aaron Kearns, Jeffery Kearns, Ryan Kearns and fiancée Jamie Dillon, Matthew Adams, Megan (Ryan) McKenna, and Timothy Adams; great-grandchildren, Adalyn, Viviana, and Bennett McConaha, one sister Margaret Province of Johnstown, PA; and several nieces and nephews. .
Arrangements are being handled by Anthony L. Massafra Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Inc., 40 Second Street Extension, Donora, PA 15033 (724)-379-6900, where the family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, on Wednesday, June 20, 2018.
Prayers will be recited in the funeral home on Thursday, June 21, 2018 at 9:30 AM, folowed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady of the Valley Church at 10:00 AM, with Rev. Fr. Pierre Falkenhan as celebrant. Interment will follow at Mon Valley Memorial Park, Donora, PA.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 1100 Liberty Avenue Ste. E-201, Pittsburgh, PA 15222, in Helen's name.
