Obituary for Steve "Skip" J. Koskoski

Steve "Skip" J.  Koskoski
Stephen "Skip" J. Koskoski, age 87, of Donora, PA, died Thursday, March 15, 2018, at Hallsworth House in Monessen, PA.

He was born on September 7, 1930 in Steubenville, OH the son of the late Steve and Anna (Salata) Koskoski.

Skip was a 1948 Graduate of Donora High School. After his graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Airforce where he served with the Special Services Division from 1948- 1952.

He was employed by U.S. Steel fo 36 years, first at the Donora Works until they closed and later finished his career at the Homestead Works.

Skip was a member of St. Michael Byzantine Catholic Church in Donora for 40 years and used to attend services daily.

He was an avid sports fan not only loving to watch sports but also participating in them. He was a member at the YMCA for 30 years, a member of the Croation Club CYO League in the late 1950's and early 1960's. In the 1960's and 1970's He played in some of the Mon Valley's better softball teams, Irondale Hotel, Olivieri's Bar and Restaurant, Katamont Lounge and Todd's House of Beauty to name a few. In 1960 thru 1971 he was a member of the scout team for the Donora Dragon High School Basketball Team.

Skip often said that his three proudest memories were marrying his wife Della; his daughter and son both having college degrees even if it took his son six years and six summers to complete his; and introducing his beautiful granddaughters to the pool at the YMCA.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his uncle and aunt who raised him, John and Ella Kosokoski; his beloved wife Della (Hamilton) Koskoski; and a sister Dorothy Zewan.

Survivors include his daughter Edie (Andrew) Kassa of Carroll Twp.; his son and best friend Stephen "Skip" Koskoski Jr. of Donora; grandchildren Kaylee and Andrea Kassa; a brother Eugene Koskoski of Finleyville; and his puppy Duke.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Anthony L. Massafra Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Inc., 40 Second Street Extension, Donora, PA 15033 (724) 379-6900. Private funeral services were held at the convenience of the family.
