Obituary for Walter "Terry" N. Grimes
Walter "Terry" N. Grimes, age 73, of Donora, PA, died Thursday, May 11, 2017, at Monongahela Valley Hospital in Carroll Twp., PA.
He was born in McKeesport, PA on May 20, 1943 the son of the late Walter "Bing" and Alice (Flinn) Grimes
He was a member of the Our Lady of the Valley Church .
Terry was employed by Isaly Dairy CO from 1961 thru 1964 serving as a clerk, head clerk and finally assitant manager; he was employed by HR Block for 23 years; and from 1964 thru 2006 he was employed by US Steel and CP Industries where he was in charge of purchasing and shipping of both raw and finished products, controlling all material certification reqiured by both federal government and others. He served as a wage relief forman in 1966 and 1967; a greivance man 1968 thru 2006. Terry held other union offices including local union treasurer, trustee, vice president and was the local union president from 1986 thru 2006 during that time he negotiated 5 labor contracts
Terry was an avid train collector and the former Scoutmaster of Donora Troop #1434.
Survivors include his wife Nancy (Kusmarik) Grimes; two sons, Robert (Sue) Grimes of Oakdale and Frank (Lynn) Grimes of Rostraver Twp; a sister, Alice (Leroy) Prentice of Carroll Twp.; two brothers, Thomas Grimes of Rostraver Twp. and Martin (Laurel) Grimes of Rostraver Twp; many nieces and nephews; and his grandpets.
Arrangements are being handled by Anthony L. Massafra Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Inc., 40 Second Street Extension, Donora, PA 15033 (724) 379-6900 where the family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Saturday, May 13, 2017. and from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, and from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Sunday, May 14, 2017. Prayers will be recited in the funeral home at 9:30 AM on Monday May 15, 2017 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM in Our Lady of the Valley Church with Rev. Fr. Pierre Falkenhan as celebrant.
Interment will be at St. Dominic Cemetery, Donora, PA
A rosary will be recited Saturday evening at 6:30 PM in the funeral home.
