Raymond E. Robson, age 89, of Donora, PA, died Wednesday, January 25, 2017, at Thorpe's New Dawn Personal Care in N. Charleroi, PA.

He was born April 22, 1927 in Donora the son of the late Matthew and Gladys (Lawrence) Robson.

Ray was employed at the Donora Wire Mill until its closure, then he was assigned to the Research Department of US Steel in Monroeville until he retired after 30 years of service. He then worked in the maintenance department of Ringgold School District and retired from there as well.

He was a member of the Our Lady of the Valley Church in Donora, the Donora Elks, American Legion, and the St. Dominic Men's Club. He was an avid golfer and had a hole in one at age 79. He also bowled in the Men's League at the Croation Club in Donora.

Ray was a veteran of World War II serving with the U.S. Army. He received the Army of Occupation Medal and the World War II Victory Medal.


In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son, Raymond E. Robson Jr.

Survivors include his wife Janet (Shick) Robson; a daughter, Lori (Stephen) Forgas of Mechanicsburg, PA; four grandchildren, Tyler, Zachary and Kaitlyn Forgas and Kristen Robson; and a sister Charlene Maile of Donora.

Arrangements are being handled by Anthony L. Massafra Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Inc., 40 Second Street Extension, Donora, PA 15033 (724) 379-6900 where the family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, and from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Friday, January 27, 2017. Prayers will be recited in the funeral home at 10;30 am Saturday January 28, 2016 followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11;00 AM in Our Lady of the Valley Church with Rev. Fr. William Terza as celebrant.

Interment will follow at Mon Valley Memorial Park, Donora, PA
