Vonie T.  Long Jr.
Vonie T. Long Jr., age 70, of Donora, PA, died unexpectedly Wednesday, March 30, 2016, at his home in Donora, PA.
He was born in N. Charleroi on February 9, 1946 the son of the late Vonie Sr. and Loretta (Kargle) Long.
Vonie retired from PreCoat Metals formerly known as Enamel Products and Plating Co. in McKeesport after 45 yearsservice.
He was a graduate of Donora High School Class of 1964. He loved Cars, Auctions, playing pool and bowling. He was a member of the Hi Lites Bowling League at Brunswick 51 Lanes.
Vonie was a member of the United Steelworkers of America and a social member at many clubs and organizations throughout the valley.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Ann Lynn and a brother George Long.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Shirley (Crafton) Long; five children, Vonie T. (Amy) Long III of Mohnton, PA, Rudy Long of Monongahela, Pamela M. Halinka of Donora, Nadine S. (Kelley) Miller of Mt. Vernon, PA and Dennis (Shelley Samoda) of Belle Vernon; nine grandchildren, Jared, Teresa, Taylor, Rayna, Yvonne, Sheralyn, Julie, Lindsay and Christina; a great grandchild, Geovonie; a sister, Vonetta (Ed) Engle of Modena; two brothers, John (Judy) Long Sr. of Honeybrook and Dale Long of Coatesville; also many nieces and nephews.
Arrangements are being handled by Anthony L. Massafra Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Inc., 40 Second Street Extension, Donora, PA 15033 (724) 379-6900 where the family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, and from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Friday, April 1, 2016. Funeral services will be held at Anthony L. Massafra Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Inc. at 11:00 AM, Saturday, April 2, 2016 with Pastor Alan J. Morrison from the First United Methodist Church in Monongahela officiating.
Interment will follow at Mon Valley Memorial Park, Donora, PA
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the family through the funeral home or a charity of your choice.
