Samuel "Sam" Caputo, age 64, of Donora, PA, died Sunday, February 28, 2016, at Forbes Regional Hospital in Monroeville, PA.

He was born in N. Charleroi, PA on March 17, 1951 the son of the late Salvatore and Edith (Cappozza) Caputo.

Sam was employed by Wheeling Pittsburgh Steel and later as a Forensic Registered Nurse at Mayview State Hospital. He was also an avid fisherman.


In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Joseph and Edward Caputo.

Survivors include his wife Denise (Volpe) Caputo; a son, Samuel (Gwen) Caputo of Castle Shannon; a daughter Gina (Krista) Caputo of West Virginia; a brother James (Linda) Caputo of Erie; two sisters-in-law, Avis Caputo of Wisconsin and Patricia Caputo of N. Charleroi; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins; and his beloved dog and companion Chico.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Anthony L. Massafra Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Inc., 40 Second Street Extension, Donora, PA 15033 (724) 379-6900 where the family will receive friends from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, Friday, March 4, 2016. Funeral service will follow the Remembrance Gathering at 2:00 PM in the funeral home with Rev. Fr. James Bump officiating.
