Bernard  Fazzini
Bernard Fazzini, age 88, of Donora, PA, died Friday, January 29, 2016, at Monongahela Valley Hospital in Carroll Twp., PA. He was a member of the Our Lady of the Valley Church.

Bernard J. Fazzini: 1927 - 2016
Embraced by his loved ones, Bernard J. Fazzini, 88, of Donora died Jan. 29 at Monongahela Valley Hospital after suffering from a stroke. He was born April 30, 1927, in Donora, "The Home of Champions." Bernard graduated from Donora High School in 1945 and then served as a private in the U.S. Army during WWII for a peacekeeping mission in Straubing, Germany, for one year. He worked for U.S. Steel for 36 years at both its Donora and Clairton Works as an armature winder and received specialized training in electronics from a vocational technical school. He is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 63 years, Noreen (White) Fazzini; daughters Mariane Newmeyer of Bethel Park and Bernadette (Jeff) Wisyanski of Export; sons Joseph (Barbara) of Acme, James (Elizabeth) of Lower Burrell, John (Elizabeth) of Glen Arm, Maryland, Jerome of Bethel Park, and Jeffrey (Becky) of Plum Borough; 20 grandchildren; 5 great-grandsons; 5 nieces; 5 nephews; many Godchildren; and his beloved brother Mario (Jean) Fazzini of Fayette City. Bernard was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Valley Parish, Donora, and a member of the American Legion Post #212 and Veterans of Foreign War. He was preceded in death by his parents, Francesco and Emidiola (Damiani) Fazzini.

Arrangements are being handled by Anthony L. Massafra Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Inc., 40 Second Street Extension, Donora, PA 15033 (724) 379-6900 www.massafrafuneralhome.com where the family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, and from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, Sunday, January 31, 2016. Prayers will be recited in the funeral home on Monday February 1, 2016 at 1:00 PM followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady of the Valley Church Donora, PA at 1:30 PM with Rev. Fr. James Bump as celebrant.

Interment will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Carroll Twp., PA.

The family requests in lieu of flowers to follow Bernard's example by "paying it forward" to someone in need.
