Obituary for Victor Greco

Victor Greco, 92 of Donora, passed away on Sunday, September 9, 2018 in the Residence at Hilltop, Monongahela. Born on June 6, 1926 in Italy, Victor was a son to the late Luigi and Katina Grecco Greco.

A retired craneman for U.S. Steel, Mr. Greco was a memebr of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church in Monessen and was an acolyte in church for many years.

Victor was a veteran of World War II serving with the U.S. Army with the CO C 359th Infantry Regiment. He recieved the Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal, American Theater Ribbon, European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon, and the World War II Victory Ribbon.

Mr. Greco was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

In addition to his parents, Victor was preceded in death by six brothers; Patsy, Carmen, Joseph, Dominic, Louis, and Ralph Greco; and three sisters; Josephine Kozar, Mary Tabish, and Rose Amoroso.

Survivors inlcude his wife Esther (Costas) Greco, three daughters; Victoria (Maurice) Bedel of Allison Park, Katherine (Kyrk) Pyros of Thornburg, and Elizabeth (Ken) Callaway of Belle Vernon, six grandchildren; Demetri, Gregory, Athena, Kenny Paul, Megan, and Sydney.

Arrangements have been etrusted to the ANTHONY L. MASSAFRA FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICE INC., 40 Second St. Ext. Carroll Township/Donora, (724)-379-6900, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. on Tuesday, September 11, 2018. A Trisagion service will be held in the funeral home at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday evening with Fr. Michael Kallaur and Fr. Christopher Bender officiating.

Friends and family wishing to attend services for Mr. Greco are asked to go directly to St. Spyridon's Greek Orthodox Church, 1207 Grand Blvd., Monessen, PA 15062, at 9:30 a.m., for a 10 a.m. funeral liturgy with Fr. Sarantos Serviou officiating.

Interment will follow with full military honors accorded by the Mon Valley Honor Guard and Firing Squad in Monongahela Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Down Syndrome Center of Western Pennsylvania, Children's Hospital of UPMC, 4401 Penn Avenue Floor 3, Pittsburgh, PA 15224, in honor of the love he had for his grandson Kenny Paul.
