Obituary for Samuel E. Stoneman

Samuel E. Stoneman, 85 of Carroll Township, passed away on Wednesday, August 22, 2018 at his home.

Born in Monongahela on August 9, 1933, Sam was a son to the late Samuel F. and Edythe Young Stoneman.

He worked as a conductor for U.S. Steel for many years. He loved to work with his hands and could fix anything. Sam also loved working on cars especially body work and painting. Sam had a passion for woodworking and was often making furniture for his family and friends.

Sam was loved by many and was a very sociable person. He belonged to many clubs throughout the Mon Valley area. Sam was also a member of the Northern Masonic Jurisdiction-Coudersport, and Tri County Masonic Lodge 252, F. & A.M.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Arlene (Riedel) Stoneman) on May 10, 2007, two daughters, Traci L. Pastor and Lynn Louise Stoneman, and two siblings, Bertha Louise and William.

Survivors include his daughter Terri L. Hetzel and her husband Gail of Effingham, Ill., son in-law, John Pastor of Hendersonville, TN; four grandchildren David S. Yoder, Jennifer Lynn Young, Christopher Young, and John Michael Pastor; 11 great-grandchildren, one brother James Stoneman of Seattle, Washington; and several nieces and nephews whom he was close to.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the ANTHONY L. MASSAFRA FUNERAL HOME and CREMATION SERVICE, INC., 40 Second Street Extension, Donora, PA 15033 (724-379-6900), where the family will receive friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM. on Sunday, August 26, 2018 and on Monday, August 27, 2018 from 10 to 11 AM the time of service with Rev. Mark Schollaert officiating.

Interment will follow in Monongahela Cemetery.

Masonic services will be held in the funeral home Sunday evening at 7:30 PM
