Obituary for Ida Malie (Haddad)

Ida Malie (Haddad)
Ida Sara (Haddad) Malie, born December 24, 1920, left her family and earthly home at The Grand Residence at Upper St. Clair on Friday, May 26th at 3:25pm to join her Lord Jesus and all his angels in Heaven as “Be Not Afraid” rang out.

Ida was born in Donora, PA to the late Anies and Bertha (Halout) Haddad of Syria. Growing up, she worked in their confectionary store by the bridge until she met and married her beloved husband, the late Joseph A. Malie. While living in Allen Plan with her husband, she raised her children, which were the loves of her life: the late Joseph A. Malie Jr., Kathleen M. Polachek and her husband William, and Judith K. Malie.

Ida was a proud member of St. John’s Episcopal Church, Episcopal Church Women, and Altar Guild. She loved to share the good news of Jesus with all she met, especially by handing out red New Testament tracts. She was a true Prayer Warrior!

She enjoyed cooking and baking, usually making enough to give to others. Ida was ahead of her time, baking sugar free cookies to give to her diabetic friends. Her wish was that no one was hungry or without a sandwich.

Ida is survived by the joys of her life: granddaughters Melissa P. Filipovic and her husband Samir, Kathryn M. Ciarimboli and her husband Nicholas, and great grandchildren Juliette, Annabel and Rudyard Ciarimboli and William Filipovic.

She is survived by her brother, Edward Haddad, and many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. In addition to her husband, son and parents, she is preceded in death by her siblings: Helene “Honey” Alonzo, Miriam “Mitzi” Crotti, Barket Haddad, Eli Haddad, Sophie “Sis” Paschane, Rena Mae Clegg, and Anies “Radar” Haddad.

Arrangements are being handled by Anthony L. Massafra Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Inc., 40 Second Street Extension, Donora, PA 15033 (724) 379-6900 where the family will receive friends from 2:00 PM to 9:00 PM, Sunday, May 28, 2017. Funeral service will be at St. John Episcopal Church at 11:00 AM, Monday, May 29, 2017 with Fr. Michael Singer officiating.

Interment will be at Mon Valley Memorial Park, Donora, PA
